Summary

  • IDE (Integrated Development Environment) refers to a tool that includes not only editor but also directory opening, autocompletion, version control connection and testing environment such that user can work on the scope of a whole project. Common examples are Visual Studio Code and WebStorm.

  • Lightweight editors don’t have that many features like an IDE but its simplicity and speed make it suitable for instant file editing. Common examples are Sublime, Vim and Notepad++.
